Open Invite to Social Media Surgery

Unsheffield wants to help organisations from the region get going with new social technologies that can further their causes. The Social Media Surgery will be open as a drop-in from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21. There is no need to book a place, just come along to the Showroom Cinema and find out how easily technology can make a difference to your cause.

Scratch Game Workshop

We are delighted to announce a free workshop for children and parents to learn the basics of Scratch to explore creativity through technology. Scratch allows young people to make their own interactive art and computer games, and was used to create the Avatars displayed in the Showroom Cinema during Unsheffield and the Sheffield Children’s Festival.

Unsheffield Open for Participation

Tickets for Unsheffield are now available on a per-day basis. The event begins on Friday evening with the USE Stimulus session to kick-start the event and shape the thought map and agenda for the weekend. We have a full day of session slots for both Saturday and Sunday (running to around 6pm), and encourage participants to come for the whole weekend to make the most of the Unsheffield experience.

Call for Volunteers

We’re looking for people who can help make Unsheffield run smoothly on the weekend. We need people to help out with general event support, the Social Media Surgery and event reporting. If you’re interested in getting involved, drop us a line at volunteer [at] unsheffield.net. Volunteers also get full tickets for the event.

Call for Social Media Surgeons

Unsheffield is building on the legacy of the BashMash voluntary collaboration days to bootstrap a Social Media Surgery for Sheffield’s voluntary and third sector. We’re inviting bloggers and social media experts in the region to become Social Media Surgeons for the weekend and share their skills and experience. Surgery will be open Sat 20 and Sun 21 Jun, and Surgeons will be guaranteed tickets for the event on the days they can contribute.

Unsheffield fka BarCamp Sheffield

BarCamp Sheffield has evolved to Unsheffield, and is taking the technology unconference format to a broader public. Participant-generated content still remains at the heart of the event. Mixed up alongside are public workshops that create a bridge between local and regional talent and the international event and its contributors.
