Unsheffield takes place between Friday 19 June and Sunday 21 June 2009.

We’re kicking off the event on the Friday evening with a Stimulus session of 10-15 back-to-back lightning talks (5-7 minutes each) specifically around the Future Users of Cool Technology theme. This intense session will deliver diverse, forward-thinking ideas from passionate experts representing a wide range of sectors and interests to kick-start the weekend and get the creative juices of event participants flowing. Registration is from 4pm, and Stimulus kicks off at 7pm, dinner from 8pm. We’ll be schmoozing, barn-storming and brainstorming til midnight.

The agenda on Saturday and Sunday will consist of participant-generated sessions, similar to a traditional BarCamp. If you’re interested in contributing or facilitating a session, pop over to our forums and suggest an idea. On both days doors open around 9am for breakfast and sessions run in parallel streams between 11am and 6.30pm. On Saturday dinner is from 7pm, and the party runs through to at least midnight.

On Sunday we’re hosting various public projects to bring ‘Cool Technology’ to folks who aren’t normally exposed to digital events. Amongst the programme we’re putting together, we’re looking at craft and technology hacking workshops, geotechnology and mapping fun, as well as a children’s animation workshop. More details to follow.

We are also looking to bootstrap a digital surgery aimed at education, public and third sector organisations who want to learn how to make the most of technology to support their goals. This will support the BashMash voluntary social technology programme begun after last year’s BarCamp. The drop-in is open from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
