Social Media Surgery
Saturday 20 June 11am – 5pm
Sunday 21 June 11am – 5pm
Showroom Cinema, Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 7BX
Advice is free, no booking is required.
In keeping with our theme, Unsheffield wants to help organisations from the region get going with new social technologies that can further their causes. We are building on the legacy of the BashMash voluntary collaboration days to bootstrap an ongoing Social Media Surgery for Sheffield’s voluntary and third sector.
Charity, voluntary, education and local government workers are invited to drop into the event to get practical, hands-on advice on putting social technology into action for their causes, opening up the possibilities to reach a wider audience and promote the good work they do.
Whether it’s getting started sharing your stories and aims through blogging, forming a community around a Facebook group, or reaching out and engaging new supporters and service users through Twitter, our volunteer Social Media Surgeons will be on-hand with advice on how to use the social media to promote an important cause.
The Social Media Surgery will be open as a drop-in from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21. There is no need to book a place, just come along to the Showroom Cinema and find out what technology can do for you.

Fantastic timing, this is something I am looking at for my organisation, but finding the time to sit down and work out the best strategies to get attention and maintain interest has been difficult – there are so many possibilities…and at the moment, it seems dauntingly time-heavy.
I’ll be there, thank you.
