Your social stream is your aggregated content generated from interaction online – e.g. Twitter, Yahoo!, YouTube, Skype, Last.fm, Friendfeed, Facebook, Flickr. All these feeds generate clutter.
People are using multiple social networks now. It is inefficient for people to go to all the different social network sites to track all their friends.
Joel is going to talk about how his start-up Onepage can help address this problem.
Friendfeed actually creates an additional network and so compounds the problem.
His team of three is working on Onepage. Joel then opens the debate up to the room for discussion.
Someone asks about whether information overload from one service could be an issue. Joel explains that Onepage takes each service and then shows three updates from each.
One person comments that there is no point in showing your content from two years ago as it is old.
Tim Duckett states that to amalgamate everything – eg Twitter and LinkedIn – would not always be appropriate. You perhaps need control over who sees what – eg personal profile, professional profile.
A quick show of hands shows that most people in the room use multiple social networking accounts. Some people even have two accounts on one social network (Twitter)- one for personal and one for professional.
Being open about your personal life is one thing; sharing private data about your family is another matter.
You can get a distorted view of a user if you can only see the last few tweets from someone. More interesting stuff could be buried further back, before tweets about their night in the pub.
Many organisations are suspicious about services like Twitter as they are so public. The spontaneous nature of Twitter means that your filter mechanism comes down a notch. All it takes is to use common sense though.
Some companies – eg EasyJet, BT will monitor tweets and sometimes respond in minutes to comments about their service, particularly if the person commenting has lots of followers.
There needs to be a business model behind Onepage for it to work.
Is there an opportunity for an application that tracks a group of people and generates content regardless of whether you are connected to them – useful for businesses?
Could content be filtered but other variables – eg topic, popularity etc.
You can sign up for the beta of Onepage at www.getOnePage.com.

Thanks Robin for the coverage.
I am a co founder of OnePage so I will try and respond to some issues raised.
Firstly, we are aware that people will not want their drunk pictures of a night out in the same place as their LinkedIN that is why all control is in the users hands . We encourage you to include only what you are comfortable sharing with everyone.
As for a distorted view of a person by seeing only the last three Tweets, We intend to allow users determine how many recent actions should be shown.
We are very happy to iterate as we get feedback… I am waiting for your views personally once we launch.
Thank you once again.
