Dan Donald: Was Fur ein Vogel Bist Du?

Creating content and how that content might exist in the future. Think about the context within that content.

  • Temporal
  • Geographical – mapping
  • Proximity – assisted GPS through iPhones etc
  • Context of use – the device used to access the content eg software designed specifically for the iPhone; disabilities
  • Social context – who are we sharing it with and why?
  • Networked devices someone using a computer, phone
  • What services/networks are used? Buttons are slapped on without thinking of the context the product will be used
  • Knowledge – experts; assumed knowledge of audiences

You don’t necessarily always want the most recent content delivered. eg if you are planning what to do next week you don’t need to see events for today.

With mapping, it would be good to see how maps have changed over time.

Twitter – what is mentioned in the copy and who is making the copy? Using data captured from Twitter including number of followers and following over time delivers  graph of influence.

Revisions of sites and updates are useful when flagged up and captured.

You could analyse the context of tweets to find out who, say over the last year has the most knowledge on a specific data set.

Ideas from this session could be contenders for discussion tomorrow with the panel.

  1. Yeah…got the title a bit wrong due to poor German skills. It was supposed to be Was Fur ein Vogel Bist Du? from a picture I have at home by Max Ernst, which I think is What kind of a bird are you? Thought it a little pretentious but also work thinking about context of things… ;)

Loads of interested contributions from people and have a lot I’d like to get down about this and the repercussions of considering various contexts that can be exerted on the content we create. Massive blog post waiting in the wings, I think!

    Thanks all!
