Unsheffield is an evolution of BarCamp Sheffield 2008. That event grew out of local individuals involved in Sheffield’s technology scene believing interesting things might happen when grassroots practitioners converge. We couldn’t have anticipated the response – not only was it a sell out with some 50 sessions covering wide-ranging topics, participants also suggested bigger and better things for future events that expanded on the unconference format. And so, Unsheffield was born!
As with its predecessor, Unsheffield is entirely organised by volunteers, people with a passion for creating knowledge-sharing, innovation and networking opportunities for other passionate people. If you fit that bill, we want you to join us.
We’re looking for people who can help make the event run smoothly on the weekend by helping out with the following important activities:
- Event Support: handle on-the-day registrations, be a point of contact for the attendees, make sure participants and members of the public can get to the different activities
- Reporting: live blog the sessions to build up the event archive, get radio and video feedback from delegates and public workshop attendees
- Social Media Surgeons: provide basic help, advice and demonstrations for people who come to the drop-in Social Media Surgery, which is aimed at giving third, public and education sector organisations a helping hand with getting to grips with digital technology. Find out more information here.
There will be a volunteer induction in the evening of Thu 18 Jun 2009, and we’ll also arrange a social reporting workshop for those who want to help out with that.
Volunteering isn’t a daunting experience. The Unsheffield team is friendly, fun and motivated. And we’d love to hear from you telling us which activities you’d like to get involved in.
